Manju Jois Mini Interview
24 October 2014: Interviewee: Manju
Question: What is the difference between breath with sound & Ujjayi breathing?
Actually this is only one of the questions asked in this mini interview, that include questions about chanting , the purpose of the physical practice, what yoga means to him.
Manju Jois, Ashtanga Yoga guru of Mysore, South India, is the oldest son of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, recognized worldwide as the foremost authority on Ashtanga Yoga. Manju was born on November 16th, 1944. At the young age of 7, Manju was awakened early each day by his father to begin lessons that would forever change the course of his life and the lives of those who would study with him in the years to come. He began his teaching career at the age of 15 with his father and has taught ever since. You can find out more about Manju and his teaching schedule on his website http://www.manjujois.com
Thanks to a good friend of mine Josefin Wikstrom who recorded this mini interview for us when she was recently on a retreat with Manju. Josefin has some great projects herself that she is involved with including taking yoga to the Swedish prisons and slums of Mumbai. I will be posting videos about these projects as soon as I can get my hands on them.
