During the Foundation Course in Ayurveda, Johan talks about the basics, the fundamental principles of Ayurveda and how it affects our everyday lives and what we can do to find both a physical and mental balance on an individual level. In connection with this, Johan also delves into the Ayurvedic view of the diet and how food helps us to prosperity. Ayurveda (the knowledge of life) is an Indian holistic health practice with several thousands of years old tradition.
Introduction from Johan Silver
Have you ever wondered what makes people so different? Why some are hyperactive, move fast and talk continuously while others radiate grace and silence? Why can some people eat a five-course dinner and still be hungry while others sit and poke in a salad? Why do some people have an exhilarating joy within while others seem to carry the whole world on their shoulders? Why do some people seem to cooperate easily with each other while others are directly in conflict? Why do some people always get a cold in the spring and autumn? Why do some people have more difficulty losing weight than others?
Ayurveda answers all this with the three Doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The words are Sanskrit and cannot be easily translated into English. Briefly, one can say that the Doshas are biological energies that control all bodily and mental processes and which give all living beings their own unique key to health and self-realization. The Doshas comes from the five elements; space, air, fire, water and earth.
